Study Bike Tourism
The study ‘Cycle tourism today and in the future: sentiment 2021’ picks up on the upswing in the use of e-bikes. The study is based on an industry survey to obtain a picture of the mood in German regions regarding the importance of e-bikes and e-mountain bikes and to obtain recommendations for action for strategic work at destination level.
Best Practice Guide „Naturschutz und touristische Freizeitaktivitäten im Lebensraum Wald"
The handout highlights the potential for conflict that arises from the increased utilisation pressure in forests and protected areas due to the fact that recreational activities can adversely affect fauna and flora. The guide provides an introduction to the topic of disturbance ecology and gives several examples of successful visitor management and other ways of dealing with these conflicts of use.
Best Practice Guide „Klimawege"
The handout ‘Climate trails - a tourist contribution to environmental education’ serves as a template for the design of themed hiking trails. Using the example of a climate trail in Rhineland-Palatinate, the topic of climate change in the forest is dealt with. The climate trail in Bremen shows the connection between climate change and colonialism.

Basic Paper Tourism Financing in Rural Areas
The basic paper describes the problems of tourism financing, comments on current mandatory and voluntary forms and models of tourism contributions with regard to their suitability and identifies possible solutions.

The basic paper addresses the problems of climate change for winter tourism, summarises key project findings and provides information on suitable measures and possible solutions.
Project Dialogue Boards
The series of dialogue boards focusing on the involvement of nature, environmental, leisure, sport and tourism associations in the implementation of the national strategy on biological diversity ihas been completed. A documentation of the outcomes is available in German.
Strategy for sustainable tourism development of the Carpathians
At its 4th Conference of the Parties in September 2014, the Parties to the Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians (Carpathian Convention) adopted a joint strategy for sustainable tourism development in the mountain region. The project for developing the strategy was supported by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and coordinated by ETE.
Training tool on biodiversity and tourism
The 'Schulungsmodul Biologische Vielfalt und Tourismus' is a training tool for the capacity building of tour guides which aims at rising the awareness of biodiversity and giving practical guidelines for the implementation of conservation of biodiversity in tourism operations. Additionally, there is an introduction sheet for the training module.

Fourteen best practices from the seven Carpathian countries show how sustainable tourism development contributes to local communities and helps to preserve the natural and cultural heritage.
